How To Emboss Using Dies

Morning fellow crafters

I hope you're having a wonderful day.

For today's card I decided to do a follow on from the last post/video I shared where I show how to emboss using dies. It's super easy to do and you get more out of your dies than just die cutting - awesome right? :)

The sandwich you need to do this (by sandwich I mean the plates needed for your die cutting machine, this will vary depending on which one you have but I used my Cuttlebug this time);

  • A plate

  • C plate

  • Spellbinders tan embossing mat

  • Piece of card you want to emboss

  • Your die face down into the card, the same way as if you were going to die cut the card, I used Neat & Tangled's Heart of Gold die

  • B plate

Then simply run it through your machine and voila you just embossed using your die.

Now, there may be some differences when embossing with dies and you may find that you don't get a deep enough impression. In this case you will want to play around with it to see what works with your machine. I used a piece of card on top of the B plate before running my sandwich through the machine as this gave me a deeper impression but it's all about you and what you want your project to look like.

I then stamped and die cut the Lawn Fawn Stinkin' Cute stamp and die set using Versafine onyx black ink. I colored the images using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers in the following colors and a Derwent watercolor brush pen (1);

  • 25 Pink

  • 91 Light Gray

  • 22 Carmine Red

  • 50 Yellow

  • 81 Light Violet

  • 10 Black

I used a Wink of Stella glitter pen to add sparkle to some of the elements. Once that had dried, which doesn't take long, I used Tonic Studios Nuvo Crystal Glaze over the top for some shine. I also used the Hampton Art Stamp Positioning Tool to make sure my sentiment was straight.

My card base is a standard US 4.25 x 11 folded at 5.5 to create a top folding white card.

This was such a neat card to make and I had fun doing it. Just remember that's the whole point, to have fun and enjoy your hobby.

Here is the video I made for this card however you can find more videos and fun projects by clicking the video tab on my blog.

My First Video Trailer!

Hi Everyone

I'm super excited to get this out to the interweb and share with you all. I watched a fellow YouTuber, Amy, and her suggestion was to use Adobe Spark to make quick videos to post on social media. Her video is fantastic and super easy to follow so please check it out. I gave it a go and voila! I made one in about 5 minutes flat. Can you believe it! I've shared it on my social pages so be sure to check those out but in case you're not on any social media, here it is, my Wicked Cool Video Clip. Pretty darn chuffed with myself :)

One thing I'm learning about all this video editing/making is that you have to fun with it otherwise what's the point. My aim is to make people smile and if I can do that for just one person today, then I've done good :)

Before I go, here are some more inspiring images of art that I created, just for fun :)

Have a wonderful day! See you in the next one!

*edited* I Have 2 Sites That I'm Running Now :)

Hi everyone

One of the changes is that I now have a new site so I would love it if you popped over to say hi.

You can get there by clicking here.

I will be posting on both and haven't yet decided whether to make each blog about a different topic/genre. If you have any ideas or tips I'd love to hear from you :) Sharing is one of the many reasons I love this community. We're like one big crafty family :)

This year (yes I realize that this is being updated in April lol) I want my blog and YouTube channel to grow and to develop into something I can be truly proud of and sometimes change is needed for this to happen. I will, of course, continue to blog and share videos on crafting however I want to bring a few other topics into that as well, still not decided on what those will be.

I hope you will all join me on my new adventure.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy New Year!

Hi Everyone

I wanted to pop on, I know it's been so long, to wish you all a very Happy New Year. I hope that 2018 brings you peace, positivity and power. Peace to stay kind, positivity to keep calm and power to do the things you thought would be impossible.

I too, am making some changes in my life and I will be sharing some of those with you. I want my blog to prosper and I want to share kindness around like confetti. My blog may become an outlet for me to share my feelings/views, my craft projects, planner stuff and health & fitness progress. I figured if I made myself accountable I may actually stay on track :)

It's a good time to reflect and it's a great time to let go of the toxic things in your life, whether they are people or things, toxic is still toxic and it has affected me in so many ways.

You may have noticed that my blog has a new look and I'm very happy with it. I think, just like me, it needed refreshing. I hope you like it too and continue to follow …
